Lipid transfer particle mediates the delivery of diacylglycerol from lipophorin to fat body in larval Manduca sexta.
This work analyzed the process of lipid storage in fat body of larval Manduca sexta, focusing on the role of lipid transfer particle (LTP). Incubation of fat bodies with [(3)H]diacylglycerol-labeled lipophorin resulted in a significant accumulation of diacylglycerol (DAG) and triacylglycerol (TAG) in the tissue. Transfer of DAG to fat body and its storage as TAG was significantly inhibited (60%...

Lipid storage in fat-body cells of adult female black flies was examined using freeze-etching electron microscopy. Frozen-etched lipid granules exhibited a laminated structure. The molecular arrangement of the lipid granule may depend on the physiological condition of the insect and may be involved in the control of lipid metabolism in the fat-body cell.
متن کاملFsp27 promotes lipid droplet growth by lipid exchange and transfer at lipid droplet contact sites
Lipid droplets (LDs) are dynamic cellular organelles that control many biological processes. However, molecular components determining LD growth are poorly understood. Genetic analysis has indicated that Fsp27, an LD-associated protein, is important in controlling LD size and lipid storage in adipocytes. In this paper, we demonstrate that Fsp27 is focally enriched at the LD-LD contacting site (...
متن کاملLipophorin receptor-mediated lipoprotein endocytosis in insect fat body cells.
High-density lipophorin (HDLp) in the circulation of insects is able to selectively deliver lipids to target tissues in a nonendocytic manner. In Locusta migratoria, a member of the LDL receptor family has been identified and shown to mediate endocytosis of HDLp in mammalian cells transfected with the cDNA of this receptor. This insect lipophorin receptor (iLR) is temporally expressed in fat bo...
متن کاملBinding of plasma-derived lipid transfer protein to lipoprotein substrates. The role of binding in the lipid transfer process.
Plasma-derived lipid transfer protein (LTP) facilitates the transfer of cholesteryl ester and triglyceride between all lipoproteins. Kinetic models of the transfer event have suggested that transfer is facilitated through the physical interaction (binding) of LTP with its lipoprotein substrate. Such binding has been observed previously between LTP and high density lipoprotein (HDL), but not bet...
